Turbo Metabolism - Book Review
I was recently sent the book Turbo Metabolism to Review. A little bit about the book from the author is as follows:
As the modern Western lifestyle spreads around the globe, so too does metabolic syndrome — a cluster of symptoms that increases the risk of developing heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and other conditions.
In Turbo Metabolism: Preventing and Reversing Diabetes, Obesity, Heart Disease, and Other Metabolic Diseases by Treating the Causes (New World Library, February 13, 2018), author Pankaj Vij, MD, demonstrates that these diseases are basically “man-made” ailments caused by an unhealthy diet and way of life.
“Our typical diet might be the modern-day equivalent of a Trojan horse,” writes Dr. Vij. “It’s as if an enemy wants to conquer us, and so they have encouraged our addiction to a diet of processed food loaded with sugar, fat, and salt and stripped of protective, natural disease-fighting super foods (the ‘good stuff’ found in plants that provides information and intelligence, not just calories). In this way, they are incapacitating a large proportion of our population with chronic disability and disease.”
The good news is that metabolic syndrome can be tamed by a sensible program of exercise, natural foods, stress management, and quality sleep. In Turbo Metabolism, Dr. Vij distills a mass of medical research into a simple, effective program for better health.
“This book follows my Turbo Metabolism program of diabetes and metabolic disease reversal, the same one I prescribe to my patients,” writes Dr. Vij. “Each chapter roughly represents about one week of an eight-week course, but it’s not necessary to follow the program in the chapter order. Under the counsel of their personal physicians, readers can adapt the advice in this book to create their own health-promoting, disease-reversing program, one that fits their particular needs.”
Avoiding fads and gimmicks, Turbo Metabolism provides practical advice, case studies of ordinary people, and brief sections that debunk common medical myths. By following Dr. Vij’s evidence-based methods, readers can “turbocharge” their metabolism and attain the resilience and vitality they’ve always dreamed of.
What I really liked about the book is that it promotes practical and non gimmick ways to help people change. If youre looking for a good read with scientific background I would check it out. It breaks things down so that any can achieve change realistically and in a healthy way.
